One of the richest families in the country, the Fortunes own everything from a cosmetics company to ranches and oil wells. Russian chemist Nicolai Valkov works for Fortune Cosmetics and is on the brink of completing the formula for a new facial cream that will rejuvenate even the oldest skin, making it look again as it did in its youth. But Nick has an enemy of whom he's not even aware --- because someone doesn't want Fortune Cosmetics to finish developing its new product. The next thing Nick knows, he's got a letter from the INS, stating that he's to be deported and shipped back to Russia. He doesn't want to return to his homeland --- and Fortune Cosmetics doesn't want to lose its top chemist, either. So Kate Fortune, the family's powerful matriarch, proposes that Nick wed her outwardly cool and competent but inwardly shy and insecure granddaughter Caroline, so he can stay in America. But Caroline's already been burned once by a man, so the last thing on her mind is marriage, especially to a complete stranger --- even if he is the most gorgeous man she's ever laid eyes on!
Note to readers: Silhouette's miniseries about the Fortunes proved so popular, it was expanded beyond the initial twelve books that originally comprised Fortune's Children. Rebecca's novel Hired Husband was the launch title for the entire miniseries and the only one she wrote for it. She does not have a complete list of the remaining titles in the miniseries or the authors who wrote them. However, you can obtain one from Harlequin/Silhouette Books.
