NEW WORDS.

Did you know that it was two hundred years ago that Noah Webster published his first dictionary? It was titled A Compendious Dictionary of the English Language and contained 37,000 entries. When Webster died, the rights to his dictionary were acquired by the Merriam brothers.

Recently, Merriam-Webster released a list of nearly one hundred new words that will appear this fall in Merriam-Webster's Collegiate® Dictionary, Eleventh Edition. It includes words like google, himbo, ringtone, and text messaging.

How many of these new words do you know? If you'd like to find out, you can see a partial list or take a short quiz.
